Docfield is a fast-growing SaaS platform revolutionizing document and contract creation, empowering businesses to streamline workflows and scale efficiently. With a lean team of 12 team members, we are the market leader in the Netherlands, serving the largest applied universities. As we prepare for expansion into the UK and new verticals, we’re seeking a Founder Associate to drive growth, enhance customer success, and support our CEO in scaling the business.
Role Overview
As Founder Associate, you’ll be a hands-on partner to our creative, big-picture CEO. You'll be driving business development, leading customer implementations, and owning lightweight operations - including HR, finance, and legal tasks. This role is ideal for a resourceful, tech-savvy individual with 1-3 years of experience in a legal or financial environment. You’re highly organised, analytical, love building systems and rolling out processes. Using AI tools, you’ll streamline workflows, support strategic growth in the SaaS document/contract space, and set Docfield up for success. Complex financial and legal tasks will be supported by external experts (e.g., a fractional CFO or legal counsel).
Key Responsibilities

Business Development (40%)
Support expansion into new geographies (e.g., UK) and verticals by identifying and validating growth opportunities, conducting market research, executing outreach, building early sales funnels, closing initial deals to build momentum, and creating playbooks for repeatable sales success.
Leverage insights from marketing and sales to refine go-to-market strategies for new markets or partnerships.
Build and foster partnerships (e.g., with implementation specialists or aligned vendors) to amplify Docfield’s potential.

Consulting Services & Customer Success (30%)
Lead customer implementations, ensuring success and identifying new use cases or growth opportunities within existing accounts to drive retention and expansion.

Lightweight Financial, Ops, HR & Legal Coordination (20%)
Oversee basic financial tasks, including invoicing, expense tracking, and bookkeeping, using tools like Moneybird, GSuite, Excel for streamlined reporting.
Maintain budget dashboards for real-time spending visibility, coordinating with an external accountant for complex financial strategy & reporting.
Manage light operations like vendor & subsidies management.
Manage basic legal coordination (e.g., contract tracking, vendor agreements), ensuring proper documentation and handoff to external legal counsel where needed.
Oversee HR processes, including managing the hiring pipeline (screening candidates, coordinating interviews, and running the hiring process), onboarding new team members.

Support to CEO & Strategic Efforts (10%)
Partner with the CEO, providing structure to his vision by preparing for meetings, drafting agendas, and tracking action items.
Support the CEO in investor reporting and fundraising efforts, ensuring clear communication and alignment.
Qualifications

Experience:
1-3 Years experience in a fast-paced role (e.g. high-growth startup, law firm, investment banking, management consulting). Bonus for excelling in entrepreneurial projects or founding a startup.
Experience in business development & project management.

Technical Skills:
Outstanding analytical skills (Excel, Google Sheets, or AI-driven analytics platforms) with strong attention to detail.
Comfortable with AI and automation tools (e.g., Zapier, Notion, ChatGPT) and a knack for learning tech quickly.
Familiarity with legal tech & financial tools (e.g., Moneybird, Exact).

Soft Skills:
Exceptional project management skills, with a track record of delivering complex customer implementations or growth initiatives on time.
Entrepreneurial/growth mindset with a bias for action, resilience after setbacks, and ability to bring structure to dynamic environments.
Excellent communication, able to rally teams, pitch opportunities to clients, and foster a growth-oriented culture.
High EQ, with the ability to build trust, manage performance reviews, and navigate ambiguity.

Nice-to-Haves:
Work experience in the education sector, legal sector or document generation domain.
Experience in a SaaS or document/contract-focused startup.
Familiarity with legal practice, contract management, business development, UK market dynamics.
